Unknown Indian(part 1)---a Vegetable Seller

I know, some
of you are bored with my shayris, am I right? ---its natural, taking same foods
every day can make anyone bore.
Now I am
starting a new series---“Unknown Indians”, here I will write about some people
those who are neither famous nor highly successful but they have some special qualities
and they are playing important parts in our lives, their existence is very much
needed…
Today I will
write about a vegetable seller, they play a very important part in our lives,
am I right?
Let me start
how I found this person…
What I disliked
most is to going for vegetable marketing after taking the morning tea with two
bags in my hands(may be one bag in one hand, numbers of bags is not important
here), I don’t know why but i don’t like this one, may be one of the reasons is
I don’t have any idea about the vegetables with their names, but I had to do
it, my father always likes to go for veg marketing and he is very expert in it,
but one year ago one day my Mom asked me to bring some vegetables as that day
my father was not feeling well, I don’t like this work but it’s also true that
we can’t ignore our responsibilities.
There is a
famous vegetable market in my Hometown named “Tin Baazar”, it’s famous for
fresh vegetables in cheap rates, first day when I reached there, at first I took
a statistics of the rates of different vegetables then started buying those,
there I met a fruit seller for the first time, that day he was selling potato and
I had to buy 3 kilos of potato, I went to him, asked for 3 kilo of potatoes, he
took his basket, filled it with some potatoes and asked for my bag, I exclaimed
and replied
---what
are you doing? Weight it in your weighting machine?
He smiled
and said
---- So
you wannna check?
He weighted
the potatoes and it was exactly 3 kilos, there was another customer stood
beside me, he informed me
It was very
tough to believe, but then a boy came with a big bag to take 20 kg of potato,
the boy handed over the bag to the seller, he filled the bag with potato as
much as he approximated and gave the bag to that boy, taking the bag the boy
went out, even he did not ask for weighting.
I really
became surprised seeing that person, then approximately after one month I went
for veg marketing again, not because my father was unwell, actually It is
really a very interesting job to buy fresh vegetables in cheap rates(later I became
addicted to it) with not much bargaining, so that day that man was selling
Pumpkins and ladies fingers, when I reached there, a customer (belongs to poor
family) asked for ladies finger of 8 rupees ( those who live by day to day
earnings, don’t buy things in weight, rather they buy according to their needs
of that day, there left only rs 8 to that poor man after buying other vegs.), when he asked for 8 rupees of pumpkins, I already calculated that 550gms of ladies finger will be available in 8 rupees, after taking some ladies
finger when that seller was about to hand it over to the customer I requested
him to weight those, and he made me spellbound, it was exactly 550gm.

This is what
happens when you do your job with love, concentration and dedication, there are
lots of sellers there but no one can do this act---this is what I felt and realized
after watching him.
I shared
this man’s capability with my family and again got scolded for my absent minded
nature, because my mom informed me that my father has already told about this
person many times.
I was thinking
about to share this man’s capability with the world--- it delayed as I decided
to share this with his picture and after a long gap I went for veg marketing in
last Sunday.
Last Sunday I
visited that market again and asked that man for a snapshot, he agreed happily
and said thank you to me shaking my hand, when I was coming back I heard he was
informing an seller about that incident, his voice was very loud and was full
with joy.
Here is the
rate of last Sunday---
Tomato---Rs 20/kg
Potato---Rs 15/kg
Potol( a
kind of kitchen vegetable shaped like a cylinder tapering at both ends)---Rs 15/kg
Green Chili---Rs
10/250gm
Mocha(Cone
of the Banana)---Rs 10/piece
Ladies
Finger---Rs 20/kg
Uchhe( a
kitchen vegetable having a bitter taste)---Rs 20/kg
Pumpkin---Rs
8/kg
Cauliflower---Rs
10/piece
Those who
are suffering from high rate of vegetables can avail this market.
By the way,
can the name of the name of this vegetable seller be recommended for any world
record book, like Guinness or Limca? Actually I don’t have much idea about it,
any suggestion?
I know, some of you are bored with my shayris, am I right? ---its natural, taking same foods every day can make anyone bore.

That Beggar and Me
More
than one month ago, one day I was waiting in the station for the train, the
train scheduled at 9:20 am, I reached much earlier there, suddenly I saw a
beggar, an women nearly 60 years old, she was in the front platform of mine,
she was eating some food in a dirty polythene, I was watching her, after taking
the food she took her Lathi(which supports her to walk) and went to the tap,
after drinking water she started to walk towards the nearest shade of tree and
sat there to take rest, her walk was very tired and slow, she wore a dirty
saree and was carrying her rag with her.
We
all take less or more care to our parents, we take care for their good health,
every day we ask them whether there is any physical trouble or not, we take
care of their high blood pressure, we keep them in regular check-up under
doctors, whenever they feel week we bring either energy drinks or consult
doctors, we take care whether they are taking proper foods or not, we all do
these very sincerely after a certain age of our parents, but there is nobody to
take care of that beggar, no one is there to take care whether she is suffering
from high blood pressure or sugar or cholesterol, there is no one to give her
energy drink or good food, i saw her when she was taking breakfast, she did not know whether she will get food for lunch or not----these are the thought coming into my mind after
watching that old beggar, it’s so pathetic….
Two
days ago, on 20th May it was “Nrisingha Chaturdaushi”, my parents
and my sister is very much devoted to religious works, they had to take the
Prasad that is served every year in The Godiya Math, my father told me to bring
the Prasad after the Sandhya Aarti, after leaving the main road I took the lane
that heads towards the Goudiya Math and suddenly I saw that same old beggar sat
under a lamp post and eating some Britannia Biscuits, while I was returning
through the same path automatically my cycle became slow coming near her, I was
looking her, she noticed it and said---“Babu, will you pls help me to reach
Gaudiya math? I can’t see properly during night” I agreed to help her, while
she was standing, she informed me---“I asked some people where are they going,
they said that they are going Gaudiya Math, I asked for their help but no one
helped me”. Then she stood with the help of her Lathi, I got down from the
cycle as I thought that I have to hold her hand to show the path, but she was
walking herself, did not ask for my help, the math was 100 steps away with a
right turn, she did not ask for my help, only one mistake she was going to do,
that is she did not took the right turn and was walking straight, I showed her
the right path and helped her to enter in the math---her voice, her condition,
her walk, her helplessness haunted me whole night.
While
walking she informed me—“today someone has stolen my saree, my rag and my
petticoat”, the most bad habit in me is I carry as much as amount needed(as per
my calculation) while travelling, I don’t keep money whether going outside home
until I need to buy anything, that day I went to bring the Prasad only, so there
was no money with me so that I could help her, after reaching home I shared the
incident with my family and there was a pin drop silence for long time, they
all were feeling sad for her, its natural, from my childhood I am seeing my
parents have the habit to call the beggars and to serve food and my sister help
a poor family from her income, though she never tell anyone about this.
That
day for the whole night I was constantly thinking what I can do for her, rupees
100 or 500 will not solve her problem and truly saying I don’t have the financial
capability to bear her expenses for the rest of her life. At last an idea has
come into my mind---I will inform any NGO those are working on poverty and for
the poor people.
If
any one of you can suggest anything then it will be very helpful me.
It
was very tough for me to write this post---it’s so pathetic, but I need help
badly that’s why somehow I have managed to write it.

Arz kiya hai....

Pariyon ki jaagah to jannat me hai
Filhaal mere haat pe rakh do…
Baad me mere saar pe chadH ke baith jana.
Many times I heard that husbands say “biwiyan saar pe chadH ke baith jaati hai”, so I have written the last line.
